Finding Examples for Your SAT Essay
There are many ways to find examples for your SAT essay. Here are a few.
1) Read the News
Read articles from sources like The Wall Street Journal or the New York Times to catch up on current events. If you read regularly, current events are an excellent source for essay examples.
2) Pretend You are Arguing
Run a conversation through your head and pretend you're trying to prove a point to someone. Your goal on the SAT essay should be to convince the reader that you are right. If you were arguing with someone, what would he say? What would you tell him to disprove his statements?
3) Disprove to Prove
To prove something you can use examples that disprove the counter argument. For example, say you are arguing that going to college is better than not going to college. You could provide examples that disprove why not going to college is wrong.
4) Find Examples Everywhere
You can also draw examples for your SAT essay from personal experiences, other people's experiences, history, material you've learned in classes, book you've read, etc. You can use just about anything for examples as long as they support your argument and you stay focused on the topic.
