How to Avoid Careless Mistakes on GRE II

Tuesday, November 29, 2005

It's very easy to make a careless mistake on the GRE test especially when you are timed. Careless mistakes will decrease your GRE score, so you'll want to avoid them as much as possible. Here are some steps to take to make sure you get all the points you deserve on the GRE.

Be Prepared for the GRE

If you're prepared for the GRE, you'll be less nervous, and most likely make less stupid mistakes. Easy enough? If you haven't started studying, here's a good start to GRE test prep.

Treat Every Question with Equal Importance

Every question is important in getting a high score on the GRE, so don't take any question lightly. Too often, students make dumb mistakes, because they think a question is easy, but they end up missing it because they didn't read the question carefully or just plain weren't thinking.

Check Answer Before the Click

Once you submit an answer, you won't get to go back and change it, so make sure you've picked the answer you really wanted to pick.

Get a Good Night's Sleep

This should go without saying, but way too many people stay up late trying to cram for the GRE. You can't cram for the GRE, so don't even try it. Instead, the night before the GRE, go to sleep at a decent hour so that you're well rested for test day.
