How much should I study for the GRE?
This is a really easy question to answer. What score do you want to achieve? Study until you have achieved this score. If you are consistently scoring at or above your goal on GRE practice tests, then you are probably ready to take the real GRE.
However, if you are taking practice tests, and scoring below your goal, you need to study more. Find your problem areas and focus on them.
For example, take a practice GRE math section. Correct it, and take special note of the questions you got wrong. Do those questions fall into a specific category? Are they all quantitative comparison? Are they mostly algebra? Geometry? Presto, now you know what to study!
So all you have to do now is follow through.
Make a plan. Stick to it. Study until you've reached your goal.
