What is the GRE Analytical Writing Section?

Analytical Writing is the GRE test's newest section, which replaced the GRE's multiple choice Analytical Reasoning section. The Analytical Writing section consists of two essay prompts. One prompt asks test-takers to analyze an argument. Test-takers either have to write about why the argument is good or why it is bad. The second prompt asks for perspective on an issue. An opinion is stated, and test-takers have to agree or disagree and then provide evidence for their arguments.
